Birth & Postpartum Doula Services in Coquitlam, BC
Proudly supporting families in the Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Pitt Meadows, Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster & Surrey areas
Pregnancy and childbirth are the most natural processes we can experience. Your body was designed to do this, every cell in your body knows how to grow and birth your baby but there is so much external noise out there that can make us question or doubt our abilities to do so.
Through evidence-based education, hands-on support, and steady emotional care, I help provide the tools so you can drown out that noise and feel confident moving through birth and into postpartum, trusting your body, your baby, and your instincts.
Remember, you were born for this!
“Just as a woman’s heart knows how to pump, her lungs to fill with air and her hand to pull back from fire, so her body knows how to birth!”
-Virginia Di Orio
Doula Services
I am deeply committed to honouring the uniqueness of every family and providing compassionate and personalized care that reflects your personal beliefs and values. This is YOUR journey and you get to decide what it looks like! My job is to make sure you have the adequate information to feel confident in your choices and then support and advocate for those choices, whatever they are.
This is a judgement free space!
Hi, I’m Alyssa!
As the eldest of 8 children, I’m a born and bred caregiver and have always been fascinated by the magic and beauty that is pregnancy and childbirth. As an Early Childhood Educator, I’ve supported hundreds of families over the last decade and had a front row seat to the joys, the challenges, the love, the chaos and the nuance that is parenthood.
When I had my own daughter, I was incredibly fortunate to have an amazing support team including a midwife and a doula. Despite my birth experience going slightly different than I had envisioned, I never felt as strong and as cared for as I did during that process. Every birthing person deserves to feel that level of support and I realized that supporting families at the very beginning of their journey is where my passions and skill set could be the most impactful.
I have an outgoing and fun-loving personality with a very empathetic heart which allows me to connect with people in an authentic way and be able to really tune into their feelings. This helps me anticipate your needs and bring the appropriate energy in the moment, whether that be a calm presence, a more assertive advocate or just a good laugh! I’m a big planner, I don’t just have a Plan B, I have a Plan A-Z. I’m also a bit of a research nerd (so you don’t have to be!) and loving learning new things, especially related to pregnancy, birth and infant development.
